Who we are

PrivConvert is operated by topriv ("topriv", "we", "us", "our"). These terms form an agreement between you and topriv that governs your use of PrivConvert. You can reach us at [email protected].

Paid plans are sold through Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record for those purchases. Paddle is the seller of record on your invoice and statement, while the Service itself is provided to you by topriv under these terms.

Service description

PrivConvert provides online file conversion and utility tools, including image, PDF, document, archive, ebook, font, and developer tools. Files are processed in memory and are not stored.

The Service is offered in two forms: a free tier usable from the website without an account, and paid API plans that provide programmatic access under a personal API key. Sections covering accounts, billing, cancellation, and API use apply only to paid plans.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Upload malicious, illegal, or copyrighted content you don't have rights to
  • Attempt to exploit, attack, or reverse-engineer the service
  • Use automated scripts to make bulk requests beyond the rate limit
  • Upload files exceeding the size limit that applies to your plan (see "Rate limits and fair use")
  • Resell or redistribute the Service as a competing conversion API without a written agreement

Accounts

The free tier requires no account. If you purchase a paid plan we create an account for you, identified by your email address. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us at [email protected] if you believe your account or API key has been compromised.

One account and its associated API keys are intended for a single customer. Sharing your key with unrelated third parties, or pooling several customers' traffic through one key, is not permitted.

Paid plans and billing

Paid API plans are sold as monthly subscriptions. Current plans and prices are listed on our pricing page and on the developer page. All prices are stated in US dollars.

  • Billing period - subscriptions are billed monthly in advance. Your conversion quota resets at the start of each billing period and unused conversions do not carry over.
  • Quota - each plan includes a fixed number of conversions per month. Requests made after the quota is exhausted are declined until the next period, or you may upgrade to a higher plan.
  • Taxes - prices exclude sales tax, VAT, GST, and similar charges. Paddle calculates any tax due in your jurisdiction, adds it at checkout, and remits it to the relevant authority.
  • Payment method - payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record and issues your invoice. We never receive or store your payment card details.
  • Non-payment - if a renewal payment fails, Paddle retries it and notifies you. If it remains unpaid we may suspend API access after giving you notice by email. Suspended keys are restored once payment is received.
  • Price changes - we may change plan prices. Changes will not affect the billing period you have already paid for, and we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before a change applies to your subscription.

Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel at any time through the Paddle buyer portal or by emailing [email protected]. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for; your API key keeps working, and your quota remains available, until that period ends. We do not charge a cancellation fee.

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you are not satisfied with PrivConvert for any reason, email us within 14 days of your purchase for a full refund. For monthly subscriptions this applies within 14 days of your most recent renewal. Refunds are issued by Paddle to your original payment method.

API keys and API use

API access is granted through a personal API key. In addition to the acceptable-use rules above, you agree that you will not:

  • Publish, commit, or otherwise expose your API key in client-side code or a public repository
  • Use more than one account, or create additional accounts, to obtain quota beyond your plan
  • Circumvent quota, rate, concurrency, or file-size limits by any technical means

We may rotate or revoke a key that appears to be compromised, and we will contact you if we do. Technical details of endpoints, limits, and error codes are documented in our API documentation, which we may update as the Service develops.

No warranty

This service is provided "as is" without any warranty. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, specific conversion quality, or fitness for any particular purpose. Use at your own risk. You are responsible for verifying that a converted file meets your needs before relying on it.

Any availability figure shown on our marketing pages is an operational target rather than a contractual guarantee, and does not entitle you to service credits. A binding service-level agreement exists only where we have signed one with you separately, as may be the case on an Enterprise plan.

Limitation of liability

topriv shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use this service, including but not limited to data loss, conversion errors, or service interruptions.

File ownership

You retain full ownership of all files you upload. We claim no rights to your content. Since files are processed in memory and immediately deleted, we have no access to your files after conversion.

Rate limits and fair use

Free usage from the website is limited to 30 conversions per hour, with a maximum file size of 250 MB per file.

Paid plans have their own monthly quota, requests-per-minute limit, concurrent-job limit, and maximum file size. The figures that apply to each plan are listed on the pricing page and in the API documentation. Because every conversion runs in memory, the concurrency limit is a technical safeguard that protects all customers from resource exhaustion rather than an artificial restriction.

We reserve the right to adjust limits to maintain service quality. Where a change would reduce the limits of a paid plan you are currently subscribed to, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access, with or without notice depending on the severity, if you breach these terms, if your use threatens the stability or security of the Service or other customers, or if we are required to do so by law. Where a paid account is terminated because we discontinue the Service or for a reason not attributable to your breach, we will arrange a refund for the unused remainder of the current billing period through Paddle.

Age requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use this service. By using PrivConvert, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

Copyright and DMCA

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to convert any file you upload. If you believe content processed through our service infringes your copyright, contact us at [email protected]. Note that since we do not store files, we cannot remove previously converted content.

Governing law

These terms are governed by applicable international law. Any disputes shall be resolved in the jurisdiction of the service operator.

Changes

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
