Removing encryption from an archive you can already open
Supply the password and you get back a plain ZIP that opens without one. This requires the correct password — it does not recover or bypass a forgotten one, and nothing that runs in a browser can.
Password recovery on an AES-encrypted archive means brute force against the file, which takes specialised software and, depending on the password, anywhere from hours to longer than you will be alive. There is no shortcut and no service that offers one honestly.
Why remove the password at all
Usually because the protection has outlived its purpose. An archive that arrived encrypted for transit does not need to stay encrypted in a backup you already control, and having to supply a password every time you open your own files is friction you will eventually work around badly — most often by writing the password somewhere convenient, which is worse than no password.
One thing to check first
If the archive uses legacy ZipCrypto rather than AES, treat its contents as having been exposed if the file ever travelled anywhere public. ZipCrypto is broken by a known-plaintext attack, so a determined party who obtained the archive may not have needed the password. If that applies, decrypting it and re-encrypting as 7Z is worth the few seconds.
What we will not unpack
Output from any conversion here never contains a file type that a double-click
can execute, so an archive holding one is refused rather than repacked. That covers
executables and installers (.exe, .msi, .dll,
.scr), shell and scripting files (.sh, .bat,
.cmd, .ps1, .vbs), interpreted sources
(.js, .py, .rb, .pl,
.php), Java artifacts (.jar, .class,
.war) and server configuration (.htaccess,
.env). One such file anywhere inside refuses the whole archive, and
the error names every extension it found so you can see all of them at once.
This catches source archives more often than people expect — a Node or Python project is nothing but blocked extensions. If that is what you have, decrypt it with a local tool instead; this is a limit of what we are willing to hand back, not a judgement about your files.
