Tips for best results
- The output is uncompressed, so expect a substantially larger file than the PNG you started with. That is the intended behaviour for print and archival use, not a fault.
- Transparency is flattened onto a white background, because this TIFF output is RGB with no alpha channel. If you need a different backdrop, composite it yourself before converting.
- No pixel data is lost. PNG is lossless and so is this output, so the conversion is a repackaging rather than a re-encode.
- The result is a single-page TIFF. Multi-page TIFF, the kind fax and scanning systems produce, is a different structure and is not created here.
