About Converting CSV to ICS

CSV is a plain-text table format where each line is a row and commas separate columns. Its simplicity makes it the universal exchange format for data between spreadsheets, databases and code. When you need to move away from CSV, the usual reason is simple: no formatting, formulas or multiple sheets.

Converting your CSV spreadsheet to ICS solves that. ICS (iCalendar) is the universal calendar format for sharing events, invitations and schedules. Google Calendar, Outlook and Apple Calendar all import and export it. In practice you gain universal calendar exchange and supports recurring events and invites. PrivConvert runs the whole CSV-to-ICS conversion in server memory and deletes your file the instant the ICS is ready — nothing is stored, logged or reused.

When this conversion helps

  • You need universal calendar exchange

Tips for best results

  • After converting, open the ICS and skim the formatting — complex layouts occasionally need a small touch-up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which CSV columns are recognised?
Common headers are matched automatically (case-insensitive): Summary / Title, Start, End, Location and Description. Each row needs at least a title and a start date to become an event.
What date formats are supported?
Dates like 2026-01-31 (all-day) and 2026-01-31 14:30 or 2026-01-31T14:30:00 (timed), as well as 01/31/2026, are recognised. Rows without a readable start date are skipped.
Is it safe and private?
Yes. Every value is escaped per the iCalendar (RFC 5545) spec and stripped of control characters, so a cell can never inject extra events, and the file is processed entirely in memory and deleted the instant your download is ready.
