The database your old system left behind

For two decades, Microsoft Access was where small-business data lived: the customer list, the inventory, the billing records, the clinic’s patient index. The applications are long retired, but the .mdb and .accdb files survive on backup drives and old servers - and opening one today means buying Access or finding something that reads the format.

This reads it. Every user table is exported to its own CSV and the set is delivered as one ZIP: table names preserved, dates in ISO form, text decoded to UTF-8 so Hebrew, Cyrillic and accented names come through exactly as entered. Queries, forms and macros are ignored by design - the tables are the data.

Old databases are still personal data

A forgotten Access file is usually a complete record of real people - which is precisely why it should not be uploaded to a converter that parks files on disk. Here the database is parsed inside a sandboxed process with no network access, entirely in memory, on a server with swap disabled. Nothing is written to disk, nothing is logged about the contents, and the file is deleted the moment your download is delivered.

The output is hardened too: embedded OLE objects are stripped instead of dumped as mojibake, and any cell Excel could mistake for a formula is neutralised - the standard spreadsheet-injection guard across this site.

Where to take it from here

Prefer a single workbook over a ZIP of files? Access to Excel puts each table on its own sheet. To make the data queryable again, feed a table through CSV to SQLite or CSV to SQL. Migrating a whole legacy system? The CRM & ERP exports guide maps every format on the way out, and this conversion is on the API at /api/convert/mdb-to-csv.

How to Convert MDB to CSV Online

Converting MDB to CSV with PrivConvert takes three quick steps and no software to install. Your file is processed privately in memory and deleted the instant the CSV is ready.

1
Upload your MDB file

Drag and drop your file into the upload area, click to browse your device, or paste a URL to a file hosted online. You can upload files up to 250 MB and batch convert up to 200 files at once.

2
Automatic conversion

Once uploaded, the conversion from MDB to CSV starts automatically. The process runs entirely in an isolated environment - your data never leaves the secure pipeline.

3
Download your CSV file

Your converted file is ready instantly. Click the download button to save it to your device. The file is deleted from memory immediately after download.

A more private way to convert MDB files

Plenty of sites convert MDB files. Very few promise never to keep them - PrivConvert does, and backs it up with how the service is built.

Nothing is stored

We never keep a copy. Once your CSV is delivered, both the original and the result are gone - there is nothing left to leak or misuse.

Isolated sandbox

Every conversion runs in its own locked-down process with no network access, so files can never leak or interfere with one another.

No human ever sees it

Your files are handled entirely by automated code. No staff, partner or AI model ever reads, stores or trains on your data.

Zero data retention

Files are processed in volatile memory (RAM) and purged the instant your download is ready - nothing is ever written to disk, cached or backed up.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I get back?
A ZIP archive containing one CSV file per table, named after the table. Always a ZIP, even for a single-table database, so the result is predictable and table names survive as file names. Each CSV is UTF-8 with a byte-order mark, so Excel opens Hebrew, Cyrillic or accented text correctly on double-click.
Are .accdb files supported too?
Yes. Both the classic Jet format (.mdb, Access 97 through 2003) and the newer ACE format (.accdb, Access 2007 onward) are read. Password-protected databases are not supported; remove the password in Access first.
What happens to queries, forms, reports and macros?
They are ignored. A saved query is a stored question, not stored data; forms and reports are interface; macros are code. The export covers the tables, which is where the actual data lives. System tables (MSys*) are excluded automatically.
What about OLE columns with embedded photos or documents?
They are dropped rather than dumped. An embedded object has no meaningful text form - exporting it into a CSV produces binary garbage pretending to be data - so those columns are stripped and every other column comes through clean.
Are there limits?
Up to 100 tables and four million cells per database, and files up to 250 MB. Dates are exported in ISO form (YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS), and any text cell that could be read by Excel as a formula is neutralised, the same spreadsheet-injection guard every data tool here uses.
Do you keep the database?
No. It is read inside a sandboxed process with no network access, entirely in memory, and deleted the moment your download is delivered. For a customer database or patient list, that distinction is the whole point.
