The data-lake format, without the data-lake tooling

Parquet is what modern data infrastructure speaks: Spark jobs write it, warehouses export it, S3 buckets fill up with it. It is columnar, compressed and excellent for machines - and completely opaque the moment someone just needs to see the rows. The usual answer is to open a notebook and import pandas. This is the faster answer: drop the file, get a CSV.

Types are rendered the way a human downstream actually wants them: timestamps in ISO form, decimals exact, booleans as true and false, and nested lists or structs as JSON within their cell rather than silently mangled. Need it in a workbook instead? Parquet to Excel. Need it queryable? Chain through CSV to SQLite.

Production data, handled like production data

A Parquet file is rarely sample data - it is an export from a live system, often rows about real users. Here it is read entirely in memory, never written to disk, never logged, and deleted the moment your download is delivered. Hard caps on rows, columns and output size mean a hostile or over-compressed file fails cleanly instead of expanding without bound, and every text cell passes the same spreadsheet formula-injection guard the rest of the site’s data tools use.

Running this in a pipeline? The conversion is on the API at /api/convert/parquet-to-csv, with async jobs and signed webhooks for scheduled exports.

How to Convert PARQUET to CSV Online

Turning a PARQUET file into CSV is straightforward here - upload, convert, download. Your file is processed privately in memory and deleted the instant the CSV is ready.

1
Upload your PARQUET file

Drag and drop your file into the upload area, click to browse your device, or paste a URL to a file hosted online. You can upload files up to 250 MB and batch convert up to 200 files at once.

2
Automatic conversion

Once uploaded, the conversion from PARQUET to CSV starts automatically. The process runs entirely in an isolated environment - your data never leaves the secure pipeline.

3
Download your CSV file

Your converted file is ready instantly. Click the download button to save it to your device. The file is deleted from memory immediately after download.

Private by design, not as an afterthought

Most online converters upload your files to a server, keep them for days, and may mine them for AI training or resale. PrivConvert was built the opposite way - around your privacy.

Isolated sandbox

Every conversion runs in its own locked-down process with no network access, so files can never leak or interfere with one another.

No human ever sees it

Your files are handled entirely by automated code. No staff, partner or AI model ever reads, stores or trains on your data.

Zero data retention

Files are processed in volatile memory (RAM) and purged the instant your download is ready - nothing is ever written to disk, cached or backed up.

Encrypted transfers

Every upload and download is protected with TLS 1.3, so your spreadsheet cannot be intercepted on the way to the server or back to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are Parquet types rendered in the CSV?
Numbers and booleans stay as they are; timestamps and dates arrive in ISO form; decimals keep their exact value as text. Nested columns - lists, structs, maps - are serialised as JSON in their cell, which keeps the data intact and machine-readable instead of silently flattening it.
What are the limits?
Files up to 250 MB, up to five million rows and 2,000 columns, and a 200 MB ceiling on the generated CSV. Parquet is heavily compressed, so a modest file can expand enormously as text; the caps keep conversions fast and predictable.
Is Unicode text safe?
Yes. Parquet stores strings as UTF-8 and the CSV is written as UTF-8 with a byte-order mark, so Hebrew, Chinese, Arabic and emoji survive and Excel reads them correctly on double-click.
Why would a data file need formula-injection protection?
Because the CSV will be opened in Excel, and a string cell beginning with = or + would execute there as a formula. Parquet files frequently carry user-generated content from production systems, so every text cell gets the same neutralisation guard as the rest of the data tools here. Numeric columns are untouched.
Which Parquet files are supported?
Standard files written by Spark, pandas, Polars, DuckDB, Arrow and similar - including all the common compressions (Snappy, GZIP, ZSTD). Encrypted Parquet is not supported.
Do you keep the file?
No. It is read entirely in memory and deleted the moment your download is delivered. Production data exports deserve exactly that treatment.
